It’s not always easy to keep our New Year’s Resolution of “eating healthy” and “working out,” but just because it’s not easy, doesn’t mean it’s not important. Our body is our temple, and we should all treat it that way. Trust me, I know how hard it is to find time to work out, and I know how easy it is to just stop at a fast food chain to get food instead of cooking a meal, but this year, we at Nosotros are here to help make this year your healthiest one yet! Just because you “don’t have time to make it to the gym,” doesn’t mean you can’t work out. If you’re reading this, you must have a computer, or have access to one somewhere. It’s as easy as logging onto www.youtube.com and searching for an exercise, there are millions of videos out there for everyone! Not only youtube, though, you can log onto almost any fitness website and they have listed their favorite “at home” workouts. Now, onto food, I know this can be one of the biggest struggles we have daily, our mornings start so early, and our day ends so late, but that’s why we need to eat right, so we can balance ourselves and give ourselves more energy!
I am going to share my favorite at home workouts, and my favorite easy on the go meal tips. I’m encouraging all of the Nosotros readers to leave a comment with your favorites, too. Together, we can all help each other keep our new years resolutions for a happy, healthy new year!
Extra Tip: Take the stairs!! If you have the choice of taking the stairs or an elevator/escalator…take the stairs! Even though at the time if may not seem like a good idea, trust me, it is. Those extra steps are helping you “step” into a healthier you!
I am really encouraging everyone to participate in this conversation by leaving a comment! I would love to hear recipe ideas, work out ideas, or just share with me your healthy goals! We all need motivation, so if we can all give a few encouraging words, I think we can all succeed! I’m going to do a monthly article to see how everyone is doing. Good luck everyone! Can’t wait to hear/see your progress and ideas!
Jessica’s recommendations: My favorite website for easy workouts would be www.fitnessmagazine.com (they also have great meal tips, too!) they have multiple, easy and fast workouts for every inch of your body! At home, I do lunges while I’m watching TV, I switch it up with jumping jacks during some commercials, and I add in some crunches. For easy meals, when I know I have a long work week, or know I am going to be busy, I buy a ton of fruit, cut it up and put it into 5 different containers for easy breakfast or snack. A lot of the time, I end up skipping lunch, which isn’t good, so I always make sure I have some sort of crackers, pretzels or granola bar on me to snack on so I’m not tempted to eat worse. For dinners, I will have a lean meat, normally chicken or steak, make it the night before, and separate it for easy heating at dinner, pair it with some broccoli and carrots and it makes for a great dinner. Of course, I snack every once in a while, it’s important to keep your body happy, but not to over-do it!
