About The Show
CROWN POINT, IN | God. Country. Corps. The few. The proud. The Marines. Slogans to us. Life and death for the enlistee. This Aaron Sorkin drama was made into a popular movie starring Tom Cruise, Demi Moore, Kevin Bacon and Jack Nicholson. The courtroom drama peels back the private lives of military men to discover that ‘he’ has become ‘we’.
With a country at war on two fronts and an economic crisis causing Americans to question our government’s military spending, we are bombarded with images and impressions of our contemporary military men and women. Even more so, we encounter the tragic loss of life of those near to us, those that have given the ultimate sacrifice of honor. Today’s military has tools we couldn’t have even imagined just a few years ago, but it is still the boy next door, your high school cheer captain, the accountant in the office down the hall, or your nephew, your niece, your daughter, your son, your mother, your father, your brother, your sister who dons the garb and hoists the artillery that defends our freedom. The pressures, the decisions, the choices that bond these men and women together as family, as the corps, are ones we’d never want to make. Order, commitment, rule, consistency – these are the way of Semper Fi.
Our desire with this show is to educate the general citizenry on the challenges of the modern military while understanding the immense pressures these men and women face each moment, all while honoring their commitment, sacrifice and bravery. Presenting this military tribunal in the historic courtroom space is a dream come true. We will utilize a variety of media and theatrical effects to transport audiences to the theatre of war and inside the military mind.
We look forward to bringing this show from the silver screen to the stage, right here in Crown Point.
